Spooky season is here!
Look I, love October as much as the next person. The air gets crisp, the leaves put on a show, and suddenly its socially acceptable to drink pumpkin flavoured things until your heart beats out your chest.
But lets be honest about what October actually means for parents: it’s the official start of the stretch where your living room slowly turns into a graveyard of plastic skeletons, stray costume pieces, and glitter that will permanently embed itself into your carpet or floorboards until the year 2030.
Yes despite the chaos, there is something genuinely magical about this month, never mind the veil thins and spirits can cross.
Halloween gets a bad rap for being about the sugar rushes from trick or treat and cheap plastic masks, but if you strip all that away, it’s the best storytelling season of the year. Think about it. When else do kids actively want to talk about mysterious shadows, friendly ghosts, and magical creatures hiding out in the autumn woods?
Kids are natural born world builders. They don’t need much encouragement to start asking the best kind of “What if?” questions.
What if the rustling in the leaves is actually a tiny dragon? What if the moon is glowing extra bright tonight because something secret is happening?
As a write and creator, we live for that stuff. And as a parent or caregiver, leaning into spooky, cute side of October is an easy cheat code to channel all that pent up kids energy into something creative.
That’s why I’m dropping some brand new Halloween themed printable activities here.
No stress, , just some fun, seasonal activities, and a little magic to keep the little monsters entertained while you grab yourself a coffee or tea.
Stay tuned, keep the glitter contained, and check back for the good stuff!
